Through Positive Eyes: A World AIDS Day Commemoration
Tuesday, Dec. 1, 10 a.m. | Kaufman Hall

In partnership with The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, the Art and Global Helath Center hosts a presentation centered on the UNAIDS theme#GenEndIt: stories of what young people are doing to end the AIDS by 2030.
Special guests will include Elizabeth Taylor’s granddaughter Naomi Wilding and Nelson Mandela’s grandson, Kweku Mandela, plus special guest appearances by actors Danny Franzese and Danny Pintauro.
The presentation will also feature anti-HIV stigma arts-activist work created by World Arts and Cultures WAC 1 and UCLA Sex Squad students. In both courses students are studying and researching ways that arts activism can help fight against HIV stigma, increase HIV andAIDS awareness, and promote testing and prevention efforts. This event will also highlight some new work from Through Positive Eyes, a participatory photography project that harnesses the stories of People Living With HIV across the globe to fight against stigma.
Following our morning event, guests will be invited to join the UCLA Sex Squad and Art & Global Health Center staff to check out a World AIDS Day event in Bruin Plaza produced by UCLA’s Black/Latino AIDS Project (BLAIDS) and UCLA’s Pediatric AIDS Coalition (PAC). There will be a HIV testing van on-site, and information about PAC’s Dance Marathon.
