The Gods Must Be Crazy

A remote village in Botswana is torn to pieces when a Coca-Cola bottle falls from a plane. The tribal leader treks across the desert to dispose of the bottle in a comedic odyssey of errors. The film remains the most commercially successful release in South African film history.

This film is part of the Meleko Mokgosi Film Series. In conjunction with Bread, Butter, and Power, artist Meleko Mokgosi has selected films addressing colonialism, democracy, and liberation across the continent of Africa, themes that he explores through his large-scale episodic painting cycles.
