Peter Nabokov on Zuni Map Art

In this gallery talk, anthropologist and writer Peter Nabokov discusses Zuni Map Art paintings currently on view in A:shiwi A:wan Ulohnanne – The Zuni World.  He will introduce the concept of sacred space, cosmology and cultural geography before he turns to Pueblo and specifically Zuni sacred space. From there, Nabokov will explore notions of culturally-specific cartography which led to the genesis and creation of a unique hybrid of a multi-perspective mode of representing space and time.
