50th Anniversary of the East LA Walkouts

Co-presented by the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the East L.A. Walkouts, the Fowler collaborates with the Chicano Studies Research Center (CSRC) on two days of programming. On Saturday, March 10, a speakers’ program will feature Walkouts participants and scholars and conclude with the announcement of a new CSRC Press publication addressing these historic events. On Sunday, March 11, the 1995 documentary Taking Back the School and the 2005 HBO film Walkout! will be screened. Producers Susan Racho and Moctesuma Esparza, respectively, will introduce their films. A Q&A will follow the screenings
